Bringing the story to life
Hey everyone! Welcome back to the blog! After these scheduling delays and planning, we finally started filming with our female lead, Olivia. It felt amazing to see everything come together after so much preparation! We started with the car ride sequences since we had already filmed some of the background shots. Now, it was all about seamlessly integrating Olivia’s performance into them. This scene is crucial because it sets the tone for the film, so we had to be intentional with every shot. Olivia completely nailed it. She brought this quiet, emotional tension that fit the moment perfectly. Filming in a moving car is always tricky, but we made it work. We focused on close-ups of Olivia staring out the window, letting her expressions tell the story without any dialogue. Valentina and I shot over-the-shoulder angles from the backseat to capture her perspective as she drove through the city, giving a sense of isolation and reflection. Conner filmed profile shots from the passenger side, using the passing streetlights to create dramatic shadows on her face. Lighting was one of our biggest challenges. Some shots turned out darker than expected, but after tweaking the camera settings and experimenting with angles, we found the right balance. We’ll also adjust some of the lighting in post-production to enhance the details. After wrapping up the car scenes, we moved on to the rooftop scene one of the most visually striking moments in the film. We found the perfect rooftop with a beautiful cityscape in the background, and the shots looked stunning. The biggest challenge? The wind. It was way stronger than we expected, which made capturing clean audio really difficult. Still, the visuals turned out incredible, and we’ll work around the audio in post. Tomorrow, we’ll go through all the footage and start piecing together the scenes we’ve shot so far. We’ll also figure out if we need any reshoots and start prepping for the next round of filming. As always, I’ll keep you all updated on our progress. Thanks for following along. I can’t wait to share more soon! See you in the next blog!
